ABOUT STEVEN LOPEZ
Steven Lopez is widely regarded as the greatest Taekwondo athlete of all time and one of the most accomplished combat sport competitors of all time.
A two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Olympic Bronze Medalist, five-time Olympian, and five-time World Champion, Steven helped redefine what was possible for American taekwondo on the world stage.
But long before the Olympic podiums, world titles, and international recognition, the journey began in a garage in Houston, Texas.
There were no special advantages. No elite facilities. No shortcuts.
Just a family united by discipline, sacrifice, belief, and an uncommon commitment to excellence.
Inside that garage, the Lopez family forged a mindset that would eventually make sports history — becoming the first family in Olympic history to have three siblings qualify for the same Olympic Games and all earn medals, while also becoming the only three siblings to win gold medals at the same World Championships.
For more than a decade, Steven competed against the best athletes in the world with a style defined by intelligence, precision, composure, and relentless discipline. His success was never built on talent alone, but on the environment, mindset, and standards developed through years of sacrifice and training.
Today, Steven’s mission extends far beyond competition.
Through the Raising Champion movement, he now helps share the philosophy, principles, and lessons that shaped one of the most successful families in Olympic history — teaching parents, athletes, and future leaders how character, discipline, resilience, and environment create excellence both in sport and in life.
Because in the end, the greatest achievement was never the medals.
It was who the journey created.
